We are experts in mole control and are not your typical Charlotte, North Carolina pest control or exterminator company. First, we do not use poisons or the majority of repellents, since they do not work. Moles are difficult to remove and can only really be completely removed from your yard with mole traps, a process we have practiced and perfected over the years. In addition, if a mother mole has babies, we will make sure to remove her pups by hand before dealing with the mother mole. We are not a typical Charlotte mole exterminator company. We completely solve your mole problem by taking these steps:
- Inspect the entire property grounds - lawn, yard, garden, etc.
- Set several pro traps in mole tunnels - the correct and safe way!
- Remove all moles as they are caught and monitor for activity
- Once there is no more activity and no more moles caught, we're done
- When needed, fill in tunnels and seal with underground fencing
What Prices Do We Charge?
Every wildlife situation is different: How many moles? Size of lawn? Do you need trapping, prevention, repairs? Call us and we can give pricing for your specific situation.
Charlotte mole pest control animal tip: How to Get Rid of Moles
Moles are small mammals with very poor vision, but very strong forepaws that dig tunnels through your backyard and can wreak havoc in your garden. For that reason, it's best to deal with a mole problem swiftly, before they have done irreparable damage.
Preventing the mole population
There are several measures you can take in your backyard to dissuade moles from making it their home, and that is known as prevention. A good way to protect your garden or vegetable patch, for example, is to install an underground fence made of hard cloth, which will typically prevent the mole from digging through.
Alternatively, some people take to using repellents against moles. It's believed that planting such things as garlic or chocolate lilies may act as a deterrent to moles from entering your property. Likewise, you could opt for store-bought repellents that mimic the scent emitted by mole predators.
However, not everyone is quick enough to prevent the problem, and once a mole has entered your property, you must then endeavor to trap it.
How can you trap a mole?
For this, you have two options: either live trapping, a more humane method, or the classic snap trap. For live trapping, a common practice is to identify an active mole tunnel (you can do this by collapsing it and then checking if it has been re-built), and "plant" a 5-gallon bucket underneath it. The mole will then most likely fall through into the bucket and be unable to escape. It's recommended that you check on live traps regularly, as it's inhumane to leave the poor animal sitting there for long periods on end. Once the mole is safely trapped inside the bucket, you can then relocate it far away from your property, where it won't bother you anymore.
Alternatively, you could go for the less humane, but roughly more effective snap trap. Much like a mousetrap, this is something you plant along the floor of an active mole tunnel and check on regularly, disposing of the trap, once the mole has been killed. This is activated when the mole steps on the plate, and is quite an efficient method of getting rid of the mammal, if more gruesome.
If opting for the snap trap, it's recommended to keep children and pets away from the area with the trap, lest they should "go through" the earth, into the tunnel and injure themselves.
