We are experts in mole control and are not your typical Chesapeake, Virginia pest control or exterminator company. First, we do not use poisons or the majority of repellents, since they do not work. Moles are difficult to remove and can only really be completely removed from your yard with mole traps, a process we have practiced and perfected over the years. In addition, if a mother mole has babies, we will make sure to remove her pups by hand before dealing with the mother mole. We are not a typical Chesapeake mole exterminator company. We completely solve your mole problem by taking these steps:
- Inspect the entire property grounds - lawn, yard, garden, etc.
- Set several pro traps in mole tunnels - the correct and safe way!
- Remove all moles as they are caught and monitor for activity
- Once there is no more activity and no more moles caught, we're done
- When needed, fill in tunnels and seal with underground fencing
What Prices Do We Charge?
Every wildlife situation is different: How many moles? Size of lawn? Do you need trapping, prevention, repairs? Call us and we can give pricing for your specific situation.
Chesapeake mole pest control animal tip: How to get rid of moles in yard with castor oil
Moles are tricky and devious pests that like to burrow through your lawns and gardens. Distinct by their pinkish snout, furry face, webbed feet, and long claws, they can cause unbelievable damage to your plants. Moles also transfer diseases like rabies to humans/pets.
How do you spot mole damage?
Moles live most of their lives underground, digging tunnels and searching for insects. Therefore, if you see little mounds all around your gardens looking like "little volcanoes" it is most likely a molehill. These mounds are the souvenirs of their entry and exit.
Using castor oil
Most people are already familiar with the many "powers" of castor oil - for curing inflammation, pimples, laxatives, etc. However, castor oil is also a natural repellant for moles. The smell of this compound is enough to tell the moles (and some other pests) that "they are in the wrong territory"
With the right combination and "deployment" of castor oil, you can get rid of the menace that moles cause to your plants and lawns.
How to prepare your mole repelling mixture using castor oil
To improve the efficiency of the castor oil, follow the steps below;
Purchase the oil marked "unrefined" if you are mixing it yourself; to cut costs. Then mix 6 ounces of castor oil with a gallon of water in a bucket.
Add 2-4 tablespoons of another oil/vegetable-based detergent to the mixture. It helps the "sticky" solution to flow better.
Stir the solution vigorously till you achieve a near-homogenous mixture, and decant into a spray bottle or hose sprayer.
Switch on the lawn sprinkler or hose. Saturate the marked (infested areas) with a little volume of water.
Spray the roots of plants, the top, and inside of mounds. Also, spray flowers and other areas in your garden with the castor oil solution using the hose.
You can follow with another little sprinkling of water to make sure the solution stays on the ground.
When preparing your castor oil solution, some prefer to include garlic and chili powder. These spices don't sit well with the moles (they seem to prefer their meals unspiced) and are very efficient additions.
Before and post spraying your gardens, you should carry out lots of inspections around your gardens and lawns. Moles prefer to burrow and eat insects and worms but they damage bulbs, roots, stems, and more, in the process. If the solution does not stop the damage, then it might not be a mole.
